Ontario’s Learn and Stay Grant Supports èÖľyuzuki’s Nursing Programming

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON January 20, 2023) – Earlier this year, the Ontario government announced the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant, which will be offered beginning in the 2023-24 academic year. The grant will assist students beginning their studies at èÖľyuzuki in September 2023 in either the Bachelor of Science - Nursing (Honours) or Practical Nursing programs. Students who accept an offer into either of these programs are eligible to apply to this grant to receive full, upfront funding for tuition, books, and other direct educational costs if they commit to working in Northern Ontario for a certain term after graduation.

“The financial support provided by this grant opens up tremendous opportunity for those who are interested in studying to become a registered practical nurse or registered nurse,†said Marilyn King, Interim Associate Vice President Academic, èÖľyuzuki.

“We encourage students who are thinking of applying to a nursing program at èÖľyuzuki for this upcoming fall to do so now,†said Tanya Running, Manager, Strategic Enrolment at èÖľyuzuki. “With limited seats in each program and a limited amount of students eligible for the grant, the time to apply to these programs is now,†she added. To do so, visit or contact our Student Recruitment team at StudentRecruitment@saultcollege.ca for assistance.

The is a key component of Ontario’s A Plan to Stay Open, announced in March 2022, which includes a number of measures to recruit more doctors, nurses and personal support workers to the province’s health system. The grant will support postsecondary students enrolled in targeted priority programs in underserved communities by providing upfront non-repayable funding for tuition, books, and other direct educational costs, in exchange for committing to serve in these communities after graduation.
